MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Smoky Mauve - Review

About a month or so ago, I was shopping with my friend and as usual we walked into MAC. I actually wanted to get the Soft Ochre paint pot that I have been wanting for the longest time but they always seem to be sold out of them. (sad face) Anyway, while I was in the store I thought to look at the new collection and this particular eye shadow caught my eyes so fast that I barely looked at the other stuff in the collection.

Smoky mauve is a cool tone purple, silvered-taupe-mauve with a metallic/frosted finish. It's pretty complicated to explain but it is absolutely beautiful. As I said before, it really did caught my eyes at first glance so when I swatched it on my hand, I was not disappointed at all. It is beautifully pigmented and very smooth to the touch.

This comes in the large eye shadow pan which is similar to the pro long wear eye shadows from MAC.

This also can be used both wet or dry but I personally prefer it dry, because using it wet means taking an extra step which in my opinion is not necessary with this eyeshadow. The results are not that different from each other as you can see in the picture below.

Top: used dry
Bottom : used wet
I think this eyeshadow is very versatile and can be used alone on the lid for a more natural wash of colour, and of course it can be worked into the crease with a darker colour such as a brown or grey for a beautiful smoky eye look.

I apply an eyeshadow base like the Urban Decay Primer Potion or the Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow base and then apply this on top and it stays on my lids until I need to take off my makeup at night. So the staying power for me is amazing like almost any other eyeshadow I use.

This eyeshadow retails for about $25 (Canadian dollar). I was told by the person at MAC that this is a limited edition colour or maybe collection ( I don't really remember) so I am not really sure if you can still find it in the stores anymore but you can find it in the MAC website.

Have you tried anything from the Extra Dimension Collection?

A peek into my summer vacation : Georgian Bluffs/Georgian Bay, Ontario

So today, I am going to share with you some pictures I took while I was at the north side of Ontario. Such a beautiful place. The scenery was amazing and I thought I would share it with you guys. This is also going to be the part two of my vacation journey.

Welcome to Georgian Bluffs/ Georgian Bay, Ontario!

I am sharing with you pictures I took on the road, of the cottage view we were staying at,  some beautiful sceneries, insects and food! Hope you enjoy!

This is the view from inside of the cottage! isn't it amazing? I absolutely loved it!

The sunsets were absolutely amazing! Honestly breathtaking. I really had a great time and so satisfied with how much I could take pictures and not get tired of the awesome view!

Here is a 180 degree picture I took. ha ha

These are actually wild strawberries. from a far I thought they were small flowers or something but when i looked closely, i realized they were strawberries. So cute!

That up there is the queen and the one below is the king! ha ha I'm joking but they totally do look like the clothes of a king and a queen. Don't tell me I am the only one who think this!!!

Look how tiny this mushroom is!! almost as tiny as the snail. maybe even tinier.

I actually learned that this is supposed to be a Chinese lantern plant! I think it is a dried one. At first when I saw this I had no idea what it was, but then I googled the picture and finally found out what it was. It sure is such a unique looking plant.

The food we had was mostly barbecue! you know cottage life consists of barbecue food, well to me it does! If you actually think about it, barbecue food is really healthy so this time around, the vacation food was more on the healthier side than the last one.

Also, you can't pass up a good "home made" ice cream! the picture above is strawberry and chocolate-raspberry ice cream. The picture below is a hot fudge chocolate ice cream, if I'm not mistaking the name! It was delicious.

Lets all not drool over these awesome looking pictures. I am really controlling myself not to drool too!

I really enjoyed and liked sharing these pictures with you guys. I might actually do this more often. But in the mean time, if you enjoyed these series of pictures I have been posting besides the usual makeup reviews I do, you can check out my instagram account. I post pretty frequently there and I usually like to share pictures of nature more than the usual "selfies" that everyone usually posts!

I hope you guys have had a great summer so far.

Love, Dina
